11/30/11 - Board of Directors member Shaun Levesque has retired at the end of his term. A BFS patient, Mr. Levesque had been a member of the Board since 2009; most recently he served as a member of the Development and Marketing Committee and is also a former Chairman of the Board. We are grateful to Mr. Levesque for his dedicated service to Boston Foundation for Sight.

9/6/11 -BFS will have a table set up at the Celebrating a Second Chance at Life Symposium, Sept 10 -11 in Atlanta, GA. The conference, presented by BMT Infonet, is intended for bone marrow, stem cell and cord blood transplant survivors and their loved ones; and it includes a presentation by BFS Medical Director Dr. Deborah S. Jacobs entitled Chronic GVHD and the Eyes.
8/29/11 - An updated version of PROSE Treatment Guide: Prosthetic Device Use and Care, is now available for download. It includes new sections on inserting your prosthetic devices with a lighted plunger and a plunger stand.
8/25/11 - An AMAZING artist in our community will be on exhibit at the Danforth Museum of Art in Framingham, Massachusetts, September 11 - November 6, 2011. Willard Traub's photography depicts his journey through cancer, transplant, GVHD and beyond. Mr Traub will be there on 11/18 to offer special readings to accompany many of the images in the exhibit.

Research Assistant James Bradley is going to medical school, Clinic Technician Karen Zeiger is moving to Florida, and Amy Watts, OD, is joining the staff of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. 7/18/11 - Dr. Gloria Chiu of the PROSE Clinic at Doheny Eye Center and BFS' Janice Epstein will have informational table set up from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday, July 23 at the 5+ Year Transplant Survivor Reunion to be held at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. The reunion will be held July 22-23. Please stop by and say hello!

6/30/11 - We are pleased to announce that Gary Knaak has been elected as the new Chairman of the BFS Board of Directors, succeeding Shaun Levesque when his term expired; Mr. Levesque remains a member of the Board and we thank him for his leadership and service. Please read Gary's biography on our website to learn more about him.
6/30/11 - BFS recently bid farewell to board members Lorne Abony, Steven Nevins and Robert Shapiro, who retired from the BFS Board of Directors at the completion of their terms.
Mr. Abony, the Chief Executive Officer of Mood Media, had been a member of the BFS Board since 2009, and was most recently a member of the Finance Committee and the Development and Marketing Committee. In 2010, Mr. Abony organized two Pro-Am Tennis Tournaments, raising significant donations and making many new friends in Florida.
Mr. Nevins had been a member of the Board since 2002, and was most recently a member of the Audit Committee. Mr. Nevins is the President and co-founder of Adeptis, a web systems and software performance consulting firm based in Waltham, MA.
Mr. Shapiro is an executive in the leather industry, a philanthropist and a family therapist. A member of the Board of Trustees of Brandeis University and of the Board of Directors of Hebrew College, Mr. Shapiro had been a member of the BFS Board and generous donor since 1996.
All of us here at BFS are deeply appreciative of their years of service and support to the organization.

Numerous topics will be covered, including: Overview of Dry Eye and Potential Causes; Management of Dry Eye – What’s in the Aisle?; Clincal Trials Explained including a Dry Eye Patient Panel; Contact Lens Wear for Dry Eye Patients; and Dry Eye Treatment Pipeline. 4/11/11 - We are please to tell you about The Texas Burn Survivor Society offers services to burn survivors and their families, including Stevens Johnson syndrome patients and their siblings, and the children of burn patients at Brooke Army Medical Center PROSE Clinic. Programs include Camp David, a FREE one week summer camp held in Kerrville, TX, one hour north of San Antonio, at the Lion's Camp for Children. Camp David will run this year from July 17-23, 2011. They also offer a bi-annual Teen Retreat and provide financial assistance to patients and their families who are being treated at burn centers in Texas. Applications for the 2011 session of Camp David will be available starting in April. For more information please visit their website at http://www.texasburnsurvivors.org.
