The Director of the BostonSight® Network is Ilene Knopping — a career-long ophthalmology administrator and consultant. She leads our efforts to both initiate new partner relationships and to support and collaborate with existing partners on all aspects of PROSE Provider development, operations and growth. Ilene came to us with more than 25 years of experience consulting to, managing and leading eye institutions and ophthalmological practices across the U.S. She completed a consulting project at BostonSight prior to joining the staff full-time in March 2011.
Ilene has worked at both the Massachusetts General Hospital and Massachusetts Eye & Ear, managing clinical units and administrative departments. She also facilitated the growth of both private and hospital-based group practices in multiple locations. As a consultant, she advised departments at major Boston-area teaching hospitals including Tufts Medical Center, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Lahey Clinic and Children’s Hospital. She has also consulted at the University of Miami Health System, Duke University Health System and the University of Southern California Medical Center.
Ilene served as the acting COO of the Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital at the University of Miami and the acting administrative manager of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the Palm Beaches. She consulted for more than 15 years to the New England Eye Center at Tufts Medical Center. Her projects have included executive management, practice acquisition and expansion.
Ilene is a Massachusetts native, currently living in Wayland with her husband and daughter.
