Perry Rosenthal, M.D.
Founder and President of Boston Foundation for Sight, Assistant Clinical Professor in Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School, Boston.

Enid M. Starr
Board Chairperson
A  senior trial attorney with nearly forty years experience concentrating in medical malpractice and general civil litigation. Ms. Starr is very active in the community, including serving on the Executive Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee of the CBR Institute for Biomedical Research, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. She is legal counsel and a member of the Executive Committee for Temple Israel and has served as Vice President of the Executive Committee and Trustee of the Chestnut Hill School. She is a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts. Enid also worked as Senior Trial Counsel Lecturer at the Harvard Law School Trial Advocacy Program and served as faculty for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Trial Advocacy Program.

Lorne Abony
Lorne Abony is the Chief Executive Officer of Fluid Music, the world’s largest private label music aggregation and distribution company. Prior to Fluid Music, Mr. Abony was the founder and CEO of FUN Technologies. Founded in 2001, FUN Technologies grew to become the world’s largest online casual games and fantasy sports provider with over 35 million registered games customers and was acquired by Liberty Media in December of 2007. Prior to founding FUN, Mr. Abony was the co-founder and former President of Petopia.com, an online pet food supply destination that was eventually sold to Petco. Mr. Abony previously practiced corporate and securities law in Toronto and holds an M.B.A. from Columbia, an LL.B/J.D. from the International Law Center of Windsor and a B.A. from McGill University. He currently serves as an Ambassador for the Province of New Brunswick.  

Marsha Borin
Ms. Borin currently serves as President and CEO of Rasta Thomas LLC, a company dedicated to advancing the careers of America’s finest young dancers. She practiced Commercial and Bankruptcy Law in Delaware for over 15 years and was a partner in the law firm of Borin and McDonald. As founder and Executive Director of Forum USA Delaware, she helped bring celebrities to the local Delaware stage to speak extemporaneously about topics of interest. Past participants have included Elie Wiesel, Erin Brockovich, Anita Hill and Bob Shieffer.  Ms. Borin continues to be very active in her greater community, crossing diverse sectors.

Harry T. Daniels
A Senior partner at WilmerHale, Mr. Daniels has served as an assistant managing partner of the firm and as a member of the Executive Committee. He is a member of the Litigation and Labor Departments, and the Employment and Discrimination and Intellectual Property Groups. He served as chairman of the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct from 1994-1997, the first African-American to do so, and was a member of the Board of Bar Overseers of the Supreme Judicial Court from 1980-1984. He is a trustee of Northeastern University, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, a member of the Board of Directors of Hale Reservation and a member of the Board of Overseers of Children’s Hospital, Boston. Mr. Daniels is a Boston Foundation for Sight patient.

Steve Demirjian
Steve is the Founder and Managing General Partner of Integrity Capital Management. Prior to starting Integrity, Steve was a Director and President of Westfield Capital Management since 1996. He was also Senior Vice President of Essex Investment Management from 1984-1996. He is involved in numerous boards throughout Boston, focused primarily on healthcare and youth initiatives.

Todd Faber
As a Principal for The Faber Group, Todd focuses on commercial real estate consulting as well as business development for Fortune 1000 companies and smaller technology startups. He has spent much of his time during the last several years helping non-profit organizations realize their fundraising abilities and is a six-time Chairperson for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children’s Annual Drive Fore Kids golf tournament.

Beverly R. Johnston
Mrs. Johnson holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. She has served as the Director of Human Resources at Road to Responsibility, lectured in Social Services at Curry College and held the position of Assistant Supervisor of Medical Assistance at the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind. She serves her community with Board memberships on the Marshfield Food Pantry, the local Habitat for Humanity, the Talking Information Center, and is currently the Vice President of the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield.

C. Bruce Johnstone
Bruce served on active duty with the U.S. Navy from 1962-1964 where he received the commission of Lieutenant. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College as well as an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Bruce, in his 40th year with Fidelity Investments, is a managing director and senior marketing investment strategist, responsible for educating retail and institutional audiences, and helping the company’s clients adjust their portfolios. Bruce’s involvement in numerous community and professional organizations includes founding board member of the Needham (MA) Education Foundation, Director of the Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research, cabinet member of the DeTocqueville Society of the United Way, and executive council member for the Inner City Schools Scholarship Fund. He also serves on several committees appointed by Harvard University’s Board of Overseers.

Herb Kaplan
Mr. Kaplan is the President and CEO of Warren Equities, Inc. Posting in excess of one billion dollars in sales annually and employing more than 2,000 people in eleven states, Warren Equities is listed annually in Forbes magazine as one of the nation’s top 500 privately owned companies. Herb serves as a member of the Board of Fellows of the Harvard Medical School and the Brown Medical School Corporate Partners Program and is a founding member of Mount Sinai Hospital’s “Noble Deeds Society”.

Gary Knaak
Gary is the founder and President of Post Central Inc., a comprehensive full service creative communications facility located in Rochester, New York.  Post Central consistently produces Emmy Award winning productions and is the largest facility of its kind in Western New York, serving such clients as Xerox, Kodak and The United Way.  In 2005, Post Central formed a movie studio with Gary as the Chairman. His first commercial release, “Cherry Crush” was released nationally and picked up for distribution in over 15 foreign countries.  Gary is a patient of the Foundation and looks forward to adding his media expertise in furthering our mission.

Florence Koplow
An overseer of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, she has served as an elected school committee member and town meeting member in Lexington, Massachusetts. Ms. Koplow has participated in extensive fundraising for many nonprofit organizations. Some of her accomplishments include: MissionSAFE, which provides a safe environment for learning and growing for high-risk youth; Schweitzer Fellowship, which provides fellowships for students in the health field to address unmet health-related needs in the community; Bridge Over Troubled Waters, which serves the needs of runaway or homeless youth; and New Profit, Inc., a venture capital organization for the nonprofit sector.

Shaun Levesque
Born in the United Kingdom, Mr. Levesque went on to receive his M.A. at Stanford University and his M.B.A. from Northeastern.  Currently, he serves as Institutional Business Director of Schroders Investments, a global asset management company with over $150 billion in managed assets.  He is the former recipient of the Robert A. Toigo Foundation Mentor of the Year Award for work with minority M.B.A. students.  Mr. Levesque currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and a member of the investment committee of its endowment.  He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Joslin Diabetes Clinic.

Brian Levy, OD, MSc
Dr. Brian Levy currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Danube Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a privately held biopharmaceutical company specializing in the commercial research and development of innovative drugs for ophthalmology.  Prior to joining Danube, Dr. Levy served as Corporate Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Bausch and Lomb Worldwide.  Before joining Bausch and Lomb in 1994, Dr. Levy served as Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.

Barbara Joyce McNeil, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. McNeil is the Ridley Watts Professor and was the founding Head of the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School in 1988.  She was one of the first women professors in the quad at HMS.   She is also a Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and at Brigham and Women's Hospital.  She continues to practice nuclear medicine one day a week at the BWH.  She was interim dean of Harvard Medical School in summer, 2007.  Dr. McNeil received her A.B. degree from Emmanuel College, her M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and her Ph.D. from Harvard University. She is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.  Dr. McNeil is also a member of the Blue Cross Technology Evaluation Commission; she chairs the Medicare Evidence Development Coverage Advisory Committee (MedCAC).   She serves as an advisor for several other federal and private organizations and also sits on the public board of Edwards Lifesciences (EW).  Dr. McNeil’s original career involved research in decision analysis and cost-effectiveness analysis.  More recently, her work has focused on quality of care and technology assessment.  Her research involves relationships with payers, providers and the federal government.  Her largest ongoing study compares quality of care in the VA system with that in the private setting for patients with cancer.  The Department of Health Care Policy at HMS is the largest research policy unit at Harvard University with over twenty faculty members working on issues related to cost, quality and access in the health care system.

Michael Moskow
After receiving his M.B.A. from Columbia University in 1957, Mr. Moskow began to develop commercial real estate in Boston and Newburyport and has continued to do so over the last 47 years. In 1972, he joined the Board of Directors of his high school, Browne & Nichols and was instrumental in assisting its building program.  Using his knowledge of real estate and construction he helped B & N successfully merge with the Buckingham School and was intrinsically involved during this successful transition. More recently, Mr. Moskow has been involved with the Walker Home and School in Needham for troubled children where he spent 13 years as the Board Chairman.  During his tenure, the Walker Home and School expanded their services from $2.5 million to over $15 million per year, completed a successful endowment campaign and doubled the size of their campus.  Mr. Moskow was also a board member of the Child Welfare League of America and served as its treasurer.  He is chairman of the Conservation Law Foundation and serves as a trustee of the Harvard Crimson Trust where he oversees the management of their endowment.

Steven Nevins
President and co-founder of Adeptis, a web systems and software performance consulting firm based in Waltham, MA. Steve has extensive experience as an entrepreneur and computer systems architect.

Robert E. Remis
Mr. Remis is a retired business executive and successful pioneer in the leather industry. During three decades of charitable work, he has extensive board experience with the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, WGBH (public television and radio), the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tufts University.

Robert K. Schaeberle
Robert K. Schaeberle has recently joined the senior management of GE Commercial Finance as a Vice President in the Business Aviation & Structured Finance division. He was previously a Vice President with GMAC Commercial Finance since March 2003. Before that Mr. Schaeberle was responsible for building a $1.3 Bil. Aviation Finance Portfolio for Debis Financial Services, a subsidiary of Daimler Chrysler Capital Services. Mr. Schaeberle has served on the boards of several aviation and marine industry foundations. He is currently active as an advisor to FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science and Technology).

Robert Shapiro
As an executive in the leather industry, philanthropist and family therapist, Mr. Shapiro is on the Board of Trustees of Brandeis University and the Board of Directors of Hebrew College. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Brandeis University.

Alan J. Strassman
Partner and chairman of the board, Martingale Asset Management (Boston). Mr. Strassman is currently president emeritus of the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; a trustee of WGBH (public television and radio), chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Center for Blood Research and is a former director of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association.
