Perry Rosenthal, M.D.
Founder and President of Boston Foundation for Sight, Assistant Clinical
Professor in Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School, Boston.
Harry H. Birkenruth
Board Chairman
Former Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Rogers Corporation, Rogers, Connecticut. Mr. Birkenruth is currently a
director and consultant to Rogers Corporation and Vice Chairman of Instrument
Manufacturing Company, Storrs, Connecticut.
Nancy Comenitz
The former design and product director of Samuel Ward Co., A&M Leatherlines,
StyleCraft and president of First Impressions, Mrs. Comenitz was one of
the founders of the Children’s Hospital League and currently is
an honorary member of the League’s board. She has also raised funds
for the National Kidney Foundation and Patrick’s Pals and has been
a Palm Beach Event Chair for the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and
an event chair for the Barry L. Price Rehabilitation Center.
Harry T. Daniels
Senior partner at Hale and Dorr LLP. Mr. Daniels has served as an assistant
managing partner of the firm and as a member of the Executive Committee.
He is a member of the Litigation and Labor Departments, and the Employment
and Discrimination and Intellectual Property Groups. He served as chairman
of the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct from 1994-1997, the
first African-American to do so, and was a member of the Board of Bar
Overseers of the Supreme Judicial Court from 1980-1984. He is a trustee
of Northeastern University, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, a member
of the Board of Directors of Hale Reservation and a member of the Board
of Overseers of Children’s Hospital, Boston. Mr. Daniels is a Boston
Foundation for Sight patient.
Steve Demirjian
Steve is the Founder and Managing General Partner of Integrity Capital
Management. Prior to starting Integrity, Steve was a Director and President
of Westfield Capital Management since 1996. He was also Senior Vice President
of Essex Investment Management from 1984-1996. He is involved in numerous
boards throughout Boston, focused primarily on healthcare and youth initiatives.
Florence Koplow
An overseer of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, she has served as
an elected school committee member and town meeting member in Lexington,
Massachusetts. Ms. Koplow has participated in extensive fundraising for
many nonprofit organizations. Some of her accomplishments include: MissionSAFE,
which provides a safe environment for learning and growing for high-risk
youth; Schweitzer Fellowship, which provides fellowships for students
in the health field to address unmet health-related needs in the community;
Bridge Over Troubled Waters, which serves the needs of runaway or homeless
youth; and New Profit, Inc., a venture capital organization for the nonprofit
sector.

Edwin L. Miller, Jr.
Partner, Sullivan & Worcester LLP, Mr. Miller concentrates in securities
underwritings, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and technology
company representation.
Steven Nevins
President and co-founder of Adeptis, a web systems and software performance
consulting firm based in Waltham, MA. Steve has extensive experience as
an entrepreneur and computer systems architect.
Robert E. Remis
Retired business executive and successful pioneer in the leather industry.
During three decades of charitable work, he has extensive board experience
with the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, WGBH (public television and radio),
the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tufts University.
Robert K. Schaeberle
Robert K. Schaeberle has recently joined the senior management
of GE Commercial Finance as a Vice President in the Business Aviation
& Structured Finance division. He was previously a Vice President
with GMAC Commercial Finance since March 2003. Before that Mr. Schaeberle
was responsible for building a $1.3 Bil. Aviation Finance Portfolio for
debis Financial Services, a subsidiary of Daimler Chrysler Capital Services.
Mr. Schaeberle has served on the boards of several aviation and marine
industry foundations. He is currently active as an advisor to FIRST (For
Inspiration & Recognition of Science and Technology).
Robert Shapiro
Executive in the leather industry, philanthropist and family therapist.
Mr. Shapiro is on the Board of Trustees of Brandeis University and the
Board of Directors of Hebrew College. He received an Honorary Doctorate
from Brandeis University.
Alan J. Strassman
Partner and chairman of the board, Martingale Asset Management (Boston).
Mr. Strassman is currently president emeritus of the Board of Trustees
of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; a trustee of WGBH (public television
and radio), chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Center for Blood
Research and is a former director of the Harvard Business School Alumni
Association.
Herb Kaplan is the President and CEO of Warren Equities,
Inc. Posting in excess of one billion dollars in sales annually and employing
more than 2,000 people in eleven states, Warren Equities is listed annually
in Forbes magazine as one of the nation’s top 500 privately owned
companies. Herb serves as a member of the Board of Fellows of the Harvard
Medical School and the Brown Medical School Corporate Partners Program
and is a founding member of Mount Sinai Hospital’s “Noble
Deeds Society”.
Beverly R. Johnston holds a Masters Degree in Public
Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
She has served as the Director of Human Resources at Road to Responsibility,
lectured in Social Services at Curry College and held the position of
Assistant Supervisor of Medical Assistance at the Massachusetts Commission
for the Blind. She serves her community with Board memberships on the
Marshfield Food Pantry, the local Habitat for Humanity, the Talking Information
Center, and is currently the Vice President of the Boys & Girls Club
of Marshfield.
C. Bruce Johnstone served on active duty with the U.S.
Navy from 1962-1964 where he received the commission of Lieutenant. He
holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College as well as an MBA
from the Harvard Business School. Bruce, in his 40th year with Fidelity
Investments, is a managing director and senior marketing investment strategist.
responsible for educating retail and institutional audiences, and helping
the company’s clients adjust their portfolios. Bruce’s involvement
in numerous community and professional organizations includes founding
board member of the Needham (MA) Education Foundation, Director of the
Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research, cabinet member of the DeTocqueville
Society of the United Way, and executive council member for the Inner
City Schools Scholarship Fund. He also serves on several committees appointed
by Harvard University’s Board of Overseers.

The Boston Foundation for Sight is proud to welcome four new, energetic,
highly talented and qualified Board Members this year. They are Howard Stoner, Enid Starr, Marsha Borin and Todd Faber.
Howard Stoner
Chair of the Development Committee
Growing up on his family’s farm in Sheridan County, MT, Mr. Stoner later moved to St. Paul, MN where he received his B.A. from the College of St. Thomas in 1973. During his studies at St. Thomas, Howard married his high school sweetheart and soon after graduation moved here to Massachusetts. In 1981, he founded Stoner & Company, which has become a national leader as an independent salvage, appraisal and consulting firm. An avid aviator, Mr. Stoner is a member of Airlifeline, an organization that offers free air transport to those with urgent medical needs. He is also a member of the Fay School Inner Circle and a Trustee of the Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center.
