DONATE | Donor Profiles Ruth and Robert Remis were so touched by the little girl from Paris whose sight Dr. Perry Rosenthal restored that they wanted to provide the financial support his Boston Foundation for Sight needed to be able to treat more patients. "It was like a miracle," Ruth Remis recalled. "This young girl and her desperate parents came to see Perry after she suffered devastating eye damage from a virus. She couldnt even open her eyes. Within a day, she could see again." "I told Perry we would like to be more involved in the Foundation," Robert added. Wanting to spread the word of the Foundations great work and make its help available to more people, they made a significant gift for the development of new public relations and marketing materials. "I cant think of anything more important at this point than getting the Foundations message out into the community," Bob commented. A retired business executive with extensive board experience (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, WGBH public television and radio, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Tufts University), Robert recently joined the Board of Directors of the Boston Foundation for Sight. |

"Many charities have to spend so much money on administration, but with the Foundation, you know that most of the funds raised will go directly into saving the sight of patients." Ruth Remis |

"It was a great honor to be asked," he said. "As a member of the board, I should learn more about the day-to-day work of the Foundation and be able to share this information with friends and acquaintances. Hopefully, they will also see the light, so to speak, and help us advance the incredibly successful work of the Foundation. Ruth and I feel strongly that this is the right organization for us to support. We think we can make a contributionboth financially and emotionally." "With the Foundation, you see the results right away," adds Ruth, who is a trustee emeriti of Tufts University. "Many charities have to spend so much money on administration, but with the Foundation, you know that most of the funds raised will go directly into saving the sight of patients. Thats important to us." |
