The following is a letter by Gary Goldenback, Ph.D., a PROSE patient at North Shore – LIJ Health System in Great Neck, NY.
August 20, 2014
Dear Drs. Udell and Busuioc,
I am writing to let you know how my recently acquired PROSE device has positively impacted my life. Having been diagnosed with advanced keratoconus, traditional contact lenses were not an option, as they would fall out of the eye at any sharp movement of the head or even a sneeze, not to mention the issue of corneal ulcers. PROSE has restored my vision to near-perfect acuity without compromising the cornea.
I was ready to retire from my job with the NYC Department of Education, which involves lecturing to large audiences and driving during early morning and evening hours. I was unable to distinguish faces in the audience and also had great difficulty changing lanes or reading road signs. Those issues have been totally resolved with my PROSE device.
While I know that every eye progresses differently and that there is no way to determine the future, I am very confident that my PROSE device will greatly reduce my need for corneal surgery in the future. At a recent work retreat, we were asked to share a non-work related highlight of the past year. My colleagues listened in amazement as I told my “PROSE story.”
If any potential PROSE patients have questions about how PROSE can change their lives, I would be happy to share my experience with them. Thank you both for the outstanding care that I have been receiving.
Very truly yours,
Gary D. Goldenback, Ph.D.
