Dr. Karen Carrasquillo received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Chemistry. The following year she completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. She continued her education at the New England College of Optometry where she received her Doctor of Optometry, followed by a residency specializing in Cornea and Contact Lens at the New England College of Optometry.  

Dr. Carrasquillo joined BostonSight in 2006. In 2014, she was promoted to Director of Clinical Care. In this role, Dr. Carrasquillo was responsible for BostonSight PROSE treatment delivery and worked in conjunction with the medical director to define the BostonSight treatment model and clinical protocol. In her current role as Senior VP, Clinical and Professional Affairs, she leads the BostonSight Needham Clinic team of doctors, contributes to innovation and new product development, and engages eye care professionals around the globe through educational and speaking opportunities. 

Dr. Carrasquillo is also an adjunct clinical professor at the New England College of Optometry and at the School of Optometry, MCPHS University, an advisory member of the Gas Permeable Lens Institute, Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, and Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association. She has authored many publications in the field.
