Patient Recruitment
We treat corneal and ocular surface disease patients exclusively. Our patient base includes thousands of active specialty lens wearers, giving us a concentrated recruitment pipeline in this specialty that most sites cannot match.
Software and R&D Support
Experienced engineers support novel specialty lens design development through our proprietary software platform and lathe flexibility with capabilities to integrate with existing or developing technologies.
Lens Engineering & Prototyping
Our on-site manufacturing lab can fabricate custom lens designs, test new materials, apply experimental coatings, and iterate on existing lens designs without outsourcing. FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485:2016 compliant.
Clinical Trial Management
Our clinical research coordinator brings over 30 years of experience running end-to-end trials, from regulatory compliance through data collection and close-out.
Protocol Development & IRB Submission
We develop study protocols in-house and manage the full regulatory submission process, drawing on years of experience with IRB approvals in the corneal and ocular surface disease space.
Clinical Evaluation
Our clinical staff includes a fellowship-trained, board-certified corneal and external disease ophthalmologist and cornea and contact lens residency-trained, board-certified optometrists. Your trial benefits from clinicians who specialize in the conditions being studied.
Data Analysis & Publication Support
Our data analysts and clinical researchers support the full path from raw data through peer-reviewed publication, ensuring your investment translates into published evidence.
What We Support
Treatment studies
Prospective studies that test treatments, such as investigational drugs or scleral lens devices
Behavioral studies
Studies that review the impact of ocular surface disease and/or treatments on behavior, such as mental health
Observational studies
Retrospective or prospective studies to evaluate ocular surface, corneal disease and/or the efficacy of scleral lens technology
Diagnostic studies
Studies that evaluate new avenues for diagnosing and evaluating ocular surface diseases and innovative technologies
Research and development
Manufacturing and engineering services that support product development
How We Work With Partners
We support various partnership models depending on where you are and what you need:
BostonSight-Initiated Studies
We identify research questions through our own clinical work and fund studies internally. When these align with an industry partner’s interests, we welcome co-sponsorship to expand scope and accelerate timelines.
Industry-Partnered Studies
You have a hypothesis or product to evaluate. We collaborate on study design, provide the site and patients, execute the trial, and co-author the publication. We regularly propose studies to pharmaceutical and device companies and welcome inbound partnership inquiries.
Academic Collaborations
We can help bridge research with clinical applications for early-stage discovery.
Trial Site Services
You have a protocol and need a qualified site with specialty patient volume. We handle local recruitment, clinical execution, and data collection within your existing study framework.
Research and Development
You have a smart lens or other ocular or corneal product for which you’d like to manufacture prototypes.
Current Research Studies
- A Double-Masked, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study of the Safety, Tolerability, and Efficacy of d-MAPPS™ Ophthalmic Solution in the Treatment of Chronic Ocular Graft-Versus-Host Disease (oGVHD)
- Demodex Blepharitis in Scleral Lens Wearers
- The Effect of PROSE Treatment on Mental Health
