FitAcademy offers optometrists expert training in the fitting and handling of scleral lenses and the management of ocular surface disease in a didactic and experiential setting. The training combines BostonSight’s 30+ years of clinical experience with the expertise of the industry’s top professionals. (FitAcademy events are NOT PROSE Fellowship training.)

We host FitAcademy for Residents, FitAcademy Immersive for practicing optometrists, held at our Clinic near Boston, Massachusetts, and FitAcademy International, with previous events in Colombia, India, and Spain.
FitAcademy Immersive is an exceptional training opportunity with limited registrations.
You will have personalized attention while you spend 2 1/2 full days working with our doctors in the Needham Clinic, learning how to care for the most complex patients – the patients that we see every single day – with scleral lens design and troubleshooting, treatment methodologies, and co-managing patients with other eyecare professionals. Additionally, you will attend didactic presentations; visit our manufacturing lab to understand the lens design, manufacturing, edge finishing, and modification processes; and learn tips and methods for lens application and removal in our dedicated patient training room.
You will leave FitAcademy Immersive with increased confidence in scleral lens fitting and troubleshooting, ready to bring new techniques back to your clinic.
Some scleral lens experience is recommended.
Breakfast and Lunch is included on both days. Breakfast only is included on day 3. Hotel, transportation, and dinners are not included in the registration fee.
“I discovered that I have a dream job doing what I love with people that help me make a difference in the lives of my patients. You are doing the same there, and it shows. Seeing another clinic with the same passion was encouraging and refreshing.”
“I appreciated seeing the flow of the patient care with sclerals. I’m always looking to streamline my visits to save on chair time.”
“I got a thorough understanding of the patient’s disease to guide our treatment. Positioning and usage of channels and fenestrations. Designing lenses so that the air bubble stays in the periphery.”
“The things I learned most was by way of the doctors communicating with the patient AND the clinical findings being demonstrated on the screens by the clinicians.”
“Liked discussion of the patient’s case; seeing what size lens to pick for the fitting, how to assess the fit with using slit lamp, and how FSE technology can help improve acuity.”
“I learned how to trouble shoot/address common problems. Tips on how to assess the edge of the lenses. Learned that most settling occurs within 4 hours (I thought it was longer) and that larger lenses settle less than smaller ones.”
The success of PROSE treatment is driven by the expertise of our clinicians. Our team includes world-renowned ophthalmologists and optometrists who are leaders in the field of scleral lens innovation and research.
