BostonSight Wins Gold MarCom Award for Print Advertising Campaign

October 28, 2021/0 Comments/in In the Media/by michele

BostonSight has won a Gold MarCom Award for their 2021 Print Advertising Campaign for the BostonSight SCLERAL product.

In 2021, BostonSight SCLERAL, the organization’s commercially available scleral lens product, announced smaller diameter lenses, introducing 16, 16.5, and 17mm scleral lenses available via a “triple-play” FitKit® or Smart360™ empirical fitting.

The ad campaign, led by Michele Hart, BostonSight Director of Marketing and Communications, featured a quirky photo of a man wearing a green tank top, white headband, and red boxing gloves. The campaign featured the headline “You know your patients best.” The unusual visual was designed to be eye-catching, in an industry typically filled with clinical graphics, and to emphasize BostonSight SCLERAL’s spirited philosophy.

The campaign was intended to inform eye care practitioners that BostonSight SCLERAL understands they are the experts when it comes to their patients. As a scleral lens manufacturer, BostonSight supports successful patient outcomes with a data-driven lens design, a flexible range of lens diameters, and add-on features.

BostonSight and BostonSight SCLERAL are committed to providing flexibility in design so that practitioners can meet all of their patients’ needs.

Dr. Karen Carrasquillo publishes case report in Contamac’s Global Insight

October 4, 2021/0 Comments/in In the Media, PROSE, SCLERAL/by michele

Dr. Karen Carrasquillo, OD, PhD, FAAO, FSLS, FBCLA, and VP of Professional and Clinical Affairs, published a case report in Contamac’s Global Insight on September 30.

Titled “Refitting Success: Reducing Suction and Maximizing Oxygen Permeability,” Dr. Carrasquillo recounts the case of a 60-year-old woman with a history of keratoconus and dry eye syndrome in both eyes, history of corneal scraping in the left eye 25 years prior, history of post hydrops left eye, and questionable potential history of amblyopia left eye.

Despite a good lens fit, the patient reported pressure sensation with device wear and difficulty with device removal at the end of the day. These symptoms are traditionally associated with lens compression and suction with increased wear time.

Read the case report to see how Dr. Carrasquillo modified the lens design so that the patient was able to achieve 20/25+2 best corrected visual acuity with an average comfortable daily wear of up to 12 hours.
